What you need
Use a keyboard that both players can reach without blocking each other. Each player needs a physical cube prepared from the same displayed scramble. Player 1 signs in before the local match. Player 2 can sign into a separate account through the isolated secondary session or continue with a guest display name.
Choose independent keys
The local setup lets each side use a different key from the available choices, including Space, Enter, S, A and Shift. Pick keys far enough apart that both players can hold and release comfortably. The app primes both timer instances and begins the coordinated countdown after both sides are ready.
Run the five rounds
- Prepare both cubes from the current scramble.
- Both players hold their chosen key until ready.
- Release as instructed for the round countdown.
- Each player stops only their own timer.
- Review the result; the next scramble advances automatically until five rounds are complete.
How solve saving works
Player 1's completed local solves are saved with the local_2p source to the active session. A signed-in Player 2 can save to their own active cloud session through the secondary client. Player 2 guest times appear in the match but are not saved to an account.
Fair local setup
- Place the display where both players can see the scramble and countdown.
- Use similar key positions and clear desk space.
- Decide how to handle a misscramble before starting.
- Avoid touching the other player's key or cube.
- Use the history controls if an incorrectly saved result needs removal.
Local 2P is designed around keyboard input. For players on separate devices or a touch-first setup, use Online 2P.
